I usually fetch the children from school every afternoon.
One Friday afternoon, I saw them both walking towards me. Carl was carrying two bags. Chloe had her backpack on, her left hand was holding her poster making project and on her right hand was a big Winnie the Pooh storage box. I asked her offhandedly, "Where did you get that? Did you buy that with your lunch money?"
She was smiling and she raised her poster and simply said, "First place!"
Pride and shame. What a mixture of emotions. Pride for my daughter for winning a prize and shame for almost getting angry with her thinking that she bought something instead of food. I called my husband immediately and told him the good news and my little blunder. We had a few giggles over that.

Then we told everybody else at home.
Chloe was awarded first place in a poster making project of their grade 5 class on Nutrition Week. She received a Winnie the Pooh storage box for it.
